Can anyone really explain the infield fly rule?

No Thirsty Thursday this week as the Stingers will be out of town battling it out with the notorious Colorado Sky Sox. (Middlebrow had a commentary on mascots, and I think we've found a really idiotic one in the Sky Sox. What exactly is a sky sox?) In the mean time you can submit your name suggestion for the kinder and gentler Stinger mascot. I was thinking of sending them Hooty MacBoob, but that is a Simpson's rip-off and makes about as much sense as "Sky Sox." Stinger McSting. He needs to have "Mc" or "Mac" in his name I think.

If you had a mascot what would it be and what would you name him? What would you name yon Stinger's beast?

I think my mascot would be a vicious panther and his name would be Q.T. McWhiskers. (And you thought I was going to say a wookie, didn't you?)

  1. Anonymous9:03 PM

    Stinger's mascot: Buzz Off.

Personal mascot: Lucy Liu who's name is Lucy Liu.

  2. Speaking of Simpson's ripoffs: I'm sure everyone is aware of the Albuquerque Isotopes???

  3. 'Topes! We play them in July. Well "we" doesn't include me, really, but it is nice to feel a part of the team even if you are just a thirsty thursday bench warming fan.

I'm not sure, but I think the Simposon's stole that name from them.

  4. I did a couple movies in Albuquerque over the past year and the story is that the name was taken from a Simpsons episode. My Topes T-shirt says "Est. 2003" so I believe it.

  5. That makes sense. I seem to remember playing them earlier, but I am often deluded like that.

  6. How about Mickey McWriter? He can be a panda bear with a lap top. And when I write he can bring me mochas and give me back rubs with his big fuzzy paws. (Eww. This is reminding me of an article I read that I don't want to think about. And so no one else has to think about it, I won't say what it was.)
